Our Sweet Angel

I am sitting at my desk this morning still recovering from a terrible cold. I am worn out, exhausted, sore, tired, & achy. I have no idea what to write about, but I know that I need to write about something. I began reading a few other blogs hoping that something would get my juices flowing. That didn't happen. What did happen was that I went from one blog to another & it somehow led me to Faith Massey's website that she posted for Kayleigh last May. All that got flowing was tears, lots of them. I sat here balling my eyes out, using the last of the tissues, remembering, missing, hurting, smiling, feeling, wishing, praying, hoping, & loving.

I wanted to post this video today to share with you all. Some of you have already seen this, but many of you are new to this blog & may not yet know Kayleigh. My dear husband, Adam, wrote about the amazing journey of Kayleigh's life at KayleighAnneFreeman.blogspot.com. Visit it when you get a chance & meet our sweet, little princess. Kayleigh touched the heart of thousands & thousands of people across the world. I hope that she will touch your heart as well. Be sure that you have your volume on. For me, I can't listen to the first song, Held by Natalie Grant, without losing it each time.

Thank you again to everyone that took the journey through Kayleigh's life on Earth with us. Each & every one of you mean so very much to us. You all hold a special place in our hearts. We look forward to all the welcome parties that we will attend in Heaven, together, as one big family. Kayleigh is going to greet every one of you a big smile, a hug & a kiss. But, if you are blessed enough to see her before we do, please tell her how much we miss her, we love her, & we can't wait to hold her in our arms again. Mommy, Daddy, Allyson, & Brandon love you so much sweetheart!

I started following Kayleigh's blog about a year ago and this has led me to follow your marriage ministry blog which I love. I think of Kayleigh and your family often and the strength of your family is amazing. I love this marriage ministry blog as I have been married for about 9 years now and we have a one year old daughter and the topics you cover here have helped me realize how important it is to keep your marriage strong. I have shared some of the topics you have covered here with my husband and I have to say that he is pretty happy...giggle. Thank you Amy for doing this and I look forward to continuing to follow this blog.

I have followed Kayleigh's story almost from the beginning. She has truly touched many hearts. I have seen the video before and cannot watch it without tears. She is missed deeply. She still remains in my heart and I think about her everyday! Your strength is amazing, even though I know this past year has not been easy. You and your family are always in our prayers.

Thank you for sharing your daughter's life with us. It has helped me get through one of the most difficult, yet most rewarding time of my life after I was given a 28 weeker of my own just a few months after Kayleigh was born. Ironically, I started following her blog when I was pregnant. For some reason, I knew I carrying a special baby too. After she came,y our blog helped me to understand what was going on with her. I also found out what it was like to have and to hold a true miracle of my own. Most people don't have this opportunity and I feel most fortunate and blessed to have been given a blessing that most peaople will never feel or see. And now, although with consequence, I am blessed by that 15 month old smile every day. Kayleigh has done for people much more than you will ever know and I thank you for giving us the oppportunity to know her.

Aimee,

I followed Kayleigh's earthly journey and think of her often. I have a son, our first, who is 10 months old and Kayleigh has given me the gift of not taking my Lil Man for granted. We all go through our pregnancy thinking we'll have a healthy child when the time comes and I did the same. While we were blessed with that outcome, I look at my Mason every day and thank God that he is not only in my life but healthy. I don't think I would do this with such vigor if it wasn't for Kayleigh. Her strength gave so many the strength to love the Lord as much as she does. My Mom passed away 4 years ago and she never got a chance to meet her Grandson so I like to think that she is up there playing and loving on your beautiful Kayleigh. Both are healthy and free of earthly pain and so very lucky to truely be "home".
Thank you for sharing her story with us <3

I have fallowed Kayleigh's story since the begining also. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about her and say a little prayer for her and your family. Through the blog, I really felt like I knew your family and Kayleigh. She will be forever missed by the tens of thousands of lives she touched with her tiny 1 pound hand. Loves to you all!

Beautiful. I'm a nurse, and have seen first hand the beautiful work that Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep does every day. The photos of your family, and especially your beautiful little girl Kayleigh show much love. You held her with love on Earth, and God is holding her with love in Heaven. You are in my prayers always.

Aimee... I still think about little Princess Kayleigh so, so often. One of her pink bracelets is on my dressing table and she constantly reminds me of how blessed I am to have my three babies with me here on Earth. Every day with them is a gift. I cannot watch that video again because it I can't even count how many times I have cried over it but I do remember how beautiful and sublime it is. Your little baby was/is legendary... and so, so perfect. God bless.

Oh my goodness, that video brings back so many memories and emotions. But it also makes me smile. I followed Kayleigh's story from the beginning. We even drove down from Asheville for her services because she (and you guys) felt like extended family. She was truly amazing...a precious gift from God.

The Lord started many good works that day Kayleigh was born and although she is not physically here, her spirit abounds from your family. I know she's so proud of you guys!

Oh man.... just as teary eyed today as I was a hundred times before. THANK you for posting this again today Amy. I'm not sure if you knew or not - 4 months ago I gave birth to my 5th child. A little boy FINALLY... born just shy of 30 weeks. I thought of you and Adam in the following weeks - and Kayleigh too of course. Your family has touched my life so deeply Amy. MOST importantly - because of Kayleigh, I hug my kids more often - snuggle them longer each night - and truly know how important they are.

I hope you find your day filled with so many smiles today!!!

Aimee, I started following Kayleigh's story about a year ago why I was recovering from septic shock. It wasn't long before I was checking in every day to see how she was doing. You and Adam are so amazing, the strength you show in all you've been through.

I watched this video for the first time tonight and I'm glad I was sitting alone in the living room so I could cry to my hearts content. Kayleigh. Precious. Priceless.

My thoughts and prayers are with you dear Aimee.

It makes me want to go hug my two little ones (but I don't want to wake them up right now! :)

Aimee,
I know your heart. I know how deeply you cared for that little girl and how completely you miss her. Yet, I know that you understand that she is in Heaven right now, sitting on the knee of Jesus. I can't view the video here at work, but floods of footage are coming back to me as I remember sweet Kayleigh and all the pictures Adam would post. Most importantly, I remember the feel of her sweet little legs in my arms and kissing her forehead. How perfectly innocent she was, and I'll never forget getting to tell her in person how much Brian and I love her. Stay strong, Momma! :)

Aimee I started balling before I even saw the link to the video. I've followed your amazing story since the moment I found out that you and Adam were pregnant with Kayleigh as John and my Realtors. I think of Kayleigh and the inspiration to thousands of people you all have become. You continue to shine through this ministry and look forward to seeing each and every post. May God continue to lift you up and keep you close.

I had a dream about you last night. I had followed Kayleigh's story, and then readign your blog yesterday and watching the video I know the dream was inresponse to our going to bed and praying for you and Adam. I don't remember the dream, but I do know I woke up and I was smiling. It was a good feeling for you and Adam. I was reminded that God is in control, he does hear our prayers and he has a plan for your life. A good plan and the means to get you all that your heart desires.

Blessings, Mari

Hello Aimee, once again leaving a comment, this time very touched, his words touch the bottom. Kayleigh touches me deeply. Beautiful video and very touched, I'm in tears and they do not stop running. I also have a premature child, not so far but with all its uncertainties of prematurity. The blog of sweet Kayleigh touch me since the day I ran into it. Each photo, each video. I confess that even though inexplicable, I miss her right now. Anyway, I'm completely carried away by emotion, nor have words. Feel my embrace.
Sorry if I write with mistakes, because I have no fluency in their language and use the translator, but my heart is the speaker and feel. Sorry.

Your (and Adam's) strength continues to amaze me everyday! I followed Kayleigh's journey too when we got back in touch with each other on FB. I think about Kayleigh and your family all the time and wonder where you get your strength from. I do know where it comes from, and that is our Almighty God. I will never forget dear Kayleigh or your family and continue to follow your blog here at the ministry. I pray for you and your family that you receive the answer to all of your prayers oneday. Forever in my heart....

Oh Aimee! I started following your blog around when you guys started writing it. I was/am in love with your sweet Kayleigh, you see I am a nurse and have cared for twins (one was 1 lb 1oz and 10.5 inches, and the other was 1lb 3.5 oz and 11incches) these children face incredible odds, and Kayleigh was such a miracle. I read your blog all the time, it reminds me that God was in control of all circumstances (I have a chronically ill child whom they can't figure it all out about) and encouraged me. When Kayleigh died I struggled to come back to the blog, I was so sad, then your marriage blog started and I started reading it. I got so discouraged because my husband kept rejecting many of the things that I was doing from your blog. We continue to struggle but we are trying to build our marriage the way God wants it to be. And I thank you for giving me the courage to try.

Hey Aimee- Very moving video. Thanks for sharing. I recently befriended a guy who lost his wife to cancer last May and I sent him a quote that moved me when I experienced a horrible time a few years ago. It is by A.W. Tosier and it says:

"I don't believe that God can bless a man (woman) greatly until He has hurt him (her) deeply."

May God bless you.

Kayliegh Anne is still very much in my thoughts as well as my daughter Bethany's. Bethany just turned 3 in November and she still talks about Kayleigh on a regular basis. Ever since we let off the balloons for Kayleigh, Bethany has somehow managed to connect anything exciting with her! Balloons, bubble soap, fireworks, and Christmas lights all cause Bethany to start squealing Kayleigh's name! On the 4th of July weekend, after shouting "Kayleigh! Baby Kayleigh!" all the way through 3 fireworks shows, Bethany actually waved at the end of the last one and said, "Bye, bye, Kayleigh! See you later!!" And while we were out looking at Christmas lights last month Bethany started pointing at the lights and saying they were Kayleigh! I'm just so amazed at how she continues to feel that Kayleigh is still a big part of her world!!
I wish I could thank Kayleigh because I feel extra love for my Bethany thanks to her! While Kayleigh was struggling in the hospital, I would look at Bethany and be thankful that she was strong and healthy. After we lost Kayleigh, I started looking at Bethany and being thankful that I get to have her in my life. Kayleigh has made me realize what a special and wonderful gift I have in my daughter and I don't think things would be quite so wonderful to me if it hadn't been for Kayleigh!! We love her and miss her very much!!! :)
